As Easy As It Gets...

Take four large box flaps, white, and tape them together... both sides. Use black duct tape for lettering. Keep it folded when carrying. Post.

This took less than thirty minutes, start to finish.

YOU GUYS ARE FUCKING RETARDS, EVERY ONE OF YOU. DEFACE PUBLIC PROPERTY WITH NONSENSE IN FRONT OF ME AND I WILL KICK YOUR ASS PERSONALLY!

Freewayblogger said...

Actually Robbyz, it's not "defacing public property" it's "freedom of political speech" posted legally on public property in accordance with the first amendment to the constitution. If this sort of thing bothers you so much, you should probably move to North Korea where your views are more in keeping with the law of the land.

Robbyz,
See now, kicking someone's ass when you aren't being threatened, that's much worse than putting up a sign. Besides, I can take you ;-)

Hey robbyz....
Put up your own signs.... along the lines of 'I love you Shrub' or 'Bush makes me hard'.... I'm sure you can imagine even better ones. BTW don't make silly threats. First I'd take you ;-) , then sue your ass for assault. (ya got any good things - nice bike, car or somethin to make it worth while??)

Hey Scarlet,
Can i ask you what you use for the lettering? Sharpies are getting expensive for me!
The Tempura Paint i have doesn't "cling" to the Poster i still have available to me that has a sheen to it.
I also have a lot of used, banged up and out of date foam board from Protests past that i'd like to glue the Poster paper i have to it but don't know what kind of glue to use to hold it on...*hey i just thought maybe Stapling it on!
Peace,
and don't feed the trolls, it only encourages more.

Hey Robby, use that aggression in the stupid war you wanna fight. You couldn't take me.

If someone hits you, call the cops and have them arrested. It is very fun to do. Worth getting hit for.

it says to use black duct tape for lettering, or you could use any water-proof house paint, wall paint, etc.

For glue, nothing beats old fashioned water and flour. If you want something more water proof, add some wheat gluten (available where you get your flour usually). Another popular mixture for street art is canned condensed milk with a little water in a spray bottle. Almost imposible to get off a glass surface.

Keep up the good fight! Never say die, until you actually do. I'm out there helping to keep you free cause you're out there helping to keep me free.

I sure hope RobbyZ is enlisting in the military. Anyone who supports this illegal invasion should be overseas fighting right now. there are plenty of honest, intelligent soldiers who ahve been over three on 2 or more torus who would like to be home, defending their country from bush and all the rethuglians destroying our civilization.

You are signing up... right?

I won't hold my breath. Typical reich winger.

hey robbyz,

you want to kick some ass for "defacing public property" in front of you? wow. that's some real patriotic shit right there. let me quess... you voted for bush, right? hey, way to go! but shouldn't you be dying in iraq right now? just remember, it's hard to kick ass when your limbs have been blown off.

Some nice ideas for rapid sign making. Thank you.

But....

You put it on the wrong side. Only people looking in their rear view mirrors could see it. It would appear backwards. And the car's roofline would block the view until the car was way down the road.

Now if it was on the same side, but the other half of the bridge ...

Hi guys,
I really like this idea and am considering doing it myself. But I would like to know, what are the potential penalties for it? There shouldn't be any of course, but I want to make sure I know about the legalities of it all.

Instead of buying expensive bungee, ITs EASY to make your own.
Shop for strong elastics. Cut them, and tie them together to make them the right length & strength. For hooks..At the hardware store, you can buy a cheap coil of wire to make your hooks and tie them to the ends of the elastic. The wire is pliable, so when hooking them to the fence, twisty them to lock them into place.

I go for a grey background and block style white and black letters....thusly: http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j297/yyowza_photos/IMPEACH2.jpg

Anonymous said.... I would like to know, what are the potential penalties for it?

An activist friend of mine always makes sure he has read up on the state, county and municipal ordinances in the areas he is carrying out his activities in. He in particular wants to know what the maximum penalties he will face. A few hundred dollars may not be a big deal. These are frequently available online, and local activists may be able to tell you what you will be charged with, and how much.

It will vary all over the place. For instance, in Phoenix, where I reside, IF they charged you under a tagging ordinance (not that it is tagging, but because they can) they can nail you with a $10,000 fine.

On the otherhand, in another city and another charge this same friend knew he faced a $69 fine. He was happy to pay it, considering the hundreds of signs he had posted before being caught. If you pla, practice, have chosen well, don't hit same place too often, hit and run your chances of being caught are very low. If you do get caught, don't resist, and ESPECIALLY do not say anything or consent to a search of you or your vehicle (though a Terry search is likely). I repeat do not incriminate yourself ... even if they catch you red handed.

geetee said ....Could someone explain the light-pole mounting method to me (I think a pole of some sort is used to get altitude, but not sure).

http://tinyurl.com/hn5pt

Note the bungee at the top and bottom of the sign. Tight enough so once the sign is lifted into place with a pole, the tension holds it from sliding back down. Now all you need is a pole, or even better, a telescoping one (a hook on the end can help) to run your sign up the pole.

And for inspiration on what sort of sign to make next, might I suggest an important holiday coming up, a day that has sadly been forgotten:

My local dollar store has six packs of cheap bungees of various sizes, for of course, only a buck.

I'm going to hang up signs this weekend in my little, conservative town of Idaho Falls. Allthough, it is my constitutional right to be allowed to do this, something tells me the police will get involved. Wish me luck!

Yep this is a brilliant idea and is like having your own media channel for next to nothing. NICE ONE PEOPLE! I have been doing this in England since just before the war and know in my heart that it has made many good people think about the crap they get on the mainstream media.

One of the ways I have used to reduce the cost is to use Vinyl Wallpaper; often odd rolls cheaply sold at home decoration stores. Don’t forget just one roll will make many banners. I tend to use plain dark colours as this means I get two contrasting colours for the price of one and saves you having to paint a base layer plus the base is already waterproof, then paint with a large brush using White Gloss Paint. This creates a very weatherproof banner basically the whole thing is plastic; well we might as well find some good use for that b@stard product oil.

I also use Duct Tape “we call it gaffer tape in the U.K.” to reinforce the back of the material. Fixing depends on where it is going and I have not found anyway better than mentioned on here already.

The UK is already a police state and we have camera’s everywhere, the main problem we have is that the police arrive after we leave then tear down the banners once go. So we tend to stay for a while and wave at the traffic for a while. If the police do arrive I have found the best tactic is to make a fuss and ask to be arrested as I really want to be on the news and get the issue aired on mainstream media, for some unknown reason this often has the opposite effect and they show a reluctance to arrest and try and talk me out of it and let us leave after our rightful protest. O.K. then people hope you have a much fun as my friends and me.

All the best Marky

I have a few tip$ on how to $ave $ome $erious dough when constructing your signs:

1) Bungees. You gotta think wholesale, not retail. Don't buy your bungees at Wal-ly world or the dollar store... shop online for them to save the most money. I got 200 on ebay for less than $20 shipped.
3) Duct tape. Repeat step 1.
2) Paint. Most of your local hardware stores and paint stores will have discounted paints that were mixed wrong (wrong color). The paint guy messed up and it's good for us. You can get these for serious discounts, sometimes for $2-3 a gallon. Remember it doesn't HAVE to be black on white. Contrast is the most important thing to consider. Red on white is still pretty good. Whatever you can get for the lowest price is best, in my book.
4) Cardboard. Recycling bins are great. Also if you know of any furniture stores or glass companies in your city... those dumpsters are ideal because they have very large cardboard pieces.

Remember: We don't need to go broke, while we are going for broke. :)

CHEERS!

MORE MONEY SAVING TIPS:

I knew I forgot something. Two great resources are craigslist.org and freecylce.org. There are different sub-sites for each metro area. Anyway, you can always post WANTED ADS on these sites for people to donate old paint and old bungees to you. I have had great results from my local sites.

You can also get paint from your local dump for free, usually. Toxic materials like that are given away at the dump in my city. It's a great place to find paint.

Heres another highly affective communication device I have been using since the beginning of these dark days. I printed out tons of "Impeach" and other statements that needed to be said, on 3x5 size sticker paper, and carry them with me everywhere, easy to stick on things and stays for quite awhile. And can easily be placed in public bathrooms, or really anywhere very quickly.

Anonymous said...

Another kick a** thing I have seen is someone put up on the stop signs in my podunk town, is underneath "STOP" they printed out "BUSH" stickers and applied them underneath.

Anonymous said...

I see we have members of the 101st chairborn screen berets here posting all their tough guy talk. I assume they are psoting from their Humvee in Iraq because they are so brave.
Here's a great sign to post STOP SUPPORTING BUSH AND START SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS.
We are presently posting many signs in the San Diego area. ROCK AND ROLL FREEDOM FIGHTERS !!!!!!

Anonymous said...

People who complain about other people putting up Impeach signs already know they are wrong. Bush is about to deny our troops funding just because he want's to show everyone how powerful he thinks he is....it's going to backfire on him like everything else he does....only this time it will be the straw that brakes the camels back.

How about traffic jams for peace!?!?!

All of this energy that is being spent on trying to impeach Bush is such a shameful waste. "But it's my right!" Whatever. Why not focus all of this energy on something more productive. Like a full-time job. If that's too much of a problem, why not help out at a homeless shelter. Be a big brother or sister. Read to the elderly. Be a mentor. Support our troops! Do something more productive, people. All of you "bloggers" are like the slacker, sh*t-f**k son or daughter who all they do is piss and moan about how rotten life is and how everyone is out to get them. Sad, actually.

Gee Chris, thanks for sharing your "To Do" list with us. Some day maybe you'll visit us here in America and learn about some of the principles this country was founded on... then I assure you it'll all make more sense to you.

Anonymous said...

It is powerful. I think it applies best to cities where bridges cross roads like that. There aren't that many over road bridges where I live. A lot of over water bridges and what the heck, boats travel there all the time.

Anonymous said...

You know, Chris, I find you sad. You want to sit around pointing fingers at people that oppose the most violent regime ever to occupy the Executive Branch of this country. You don't care about your Constitutional rights and harass those of us that do. If it weren't for us 'standing the post' you won't have the right to any pay at any job. Your volunteerism would be replaced by manditory duties to the government for the inability to pay taxes and the 'goose step' would replace walks along the beach.

GROW UP !

Bush is the most toxic man ever to be granted the powers of the presidency in the history of this country and you are more proof of it.

I work a job. I am lucky to have a good paying job. I do volunteer. I volunteer with a peace movement that will insure YOUR right to freedom of speech. Learn to appreciate it.

Jeeze.

a very important site! Thank you!

i'm thinking about attaching the vinyl banner (with wood battened ends) to the outside of the overpass fance using aircraft cable and crimped ferrules.
I'm going to the trouble to put the sign up, i want it to be a major hassle to get it down.

I exercise my freedom of speech by taking these signs down immediately after they are put up. I hope that doesn't bother anyone.

Freewayblogger said...

Doesn't bother me... so long as you don't mind living in my shadow. I should mention though, you're not doing a very good job.

baling wire is cheap and works great. that's what is used for the signs you see for film or commercial shoots. two holes midsection of your sign, put wire through, place sign and twist wire to hold.

Another source for paint: check with your local household hazardous waste facility. Ours has a room where people can exchange unused/partially used containers of paint, cleaning chemicas, etc. Bring your leftovers, take what you need. No charge.
