Border to Border: Portland

I put these up in Portland today, covering five major freeways. All of them, except for the one below, stayed up for at least seven hours. (Update: all still up at noon next day!)

Portland's freeway system is complex and convoluted, covered with places that are "right there" but simply cannot be reached without miles of doubling back.

If I lived in Portland you wouldn't be able to drive anywhere without seeing signs.

I love living in a country where you can do this.

Signs painted by Mungen Cakes and Scarlet.
Heads up Seattle: you're next.

USA - 999
FB - 938

Dude, you gotta give at least a couple of those to USA. I mean the USA did do some of the work.

Hey Moore, can't wait to see your movie.

Good point Mungen: we'll split 'em. Score now stands at 999 to 938.

Great fun meeting you and painting by the way. I think you're right - putting the paint on the cardboard is a really crucial part of the process... I need to emphasize that more.

I'm still gonna win though...

Only because your some kind of sign-painting freak.

Sorry I missed you as you passed by Eugene. Didn't even see the signs, as I've been putting in long hours.

I'd love to assist in getting signs up all over here. If you know others in the area willing, or plan to pass through on your way back south, by all means, get in touch.

I'll be happy to feed & water ya to cut expenses and otherwise provide Eugene solidarity & hospitality.

Keep up your great work!

Hey FreewayBlogger dude,

It looks like the Wingnut counter-insurgents are on to your Seattle strategy.

And good at it, too.

Just saw the signs in Portland! Great work. I wondered if it was you, or a copycat (dog bless 'em). The "War is a lie" on my freeway offramp was rendered in your inimitable style. Still up, 5:00 PM Monday.
Keep up the great work!

The one opposite the map is still up, a week later.

Wow... that one's pretty darn visible too... still up there you say? man...

Imagine how cool it'd be if there were more than a handful of us doing it.

oh well, a kid can dream, can't he?

given Seattle's traffic, you can print essay-length signs and they'll be able to read them twice.

great job!
