Barack Obama Quotes
"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."
(All signs are hand-painted and lettered with an overhead projector. Each was placed next to a major California freeway and all stayed up for at least five days. More info here.)
"There is not a liberal America and a conservative America — there is the United States of America. There is not a Black America and a White America and Latino America and Asian America — there's the United States of America."
"Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. ... Because it’s only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential."
"I don’t oppose all wars. What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other armchair, weekend warriors in this administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne."

Surprised to see this (first sign) still up on the 405 after three days, and this one (fourth from bottom) here has been up directly over the Santa Monica Freeway for an amazing 29 days now.

"They shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." -- Isaiah, II:4
"Pain is certain, suffering is optional." ~ Buddha
"Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue. It is through disobedience that progress has been made, through disobedience and through rebellion." ~ Oscar Wilde
"To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you everybody else, means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight, and never stop fighting. " -ee cummings
"We could have saved the Earth but we were too damned cheap." ~ Kurt Vonnegut
The above sign has been over the Santa Monica Freeway since July 21st. It took less than ten minutes to make and five minutes to post with a material cost of about a nickel. It has probably been read over a million times by now.
