Bowie: Heroes

We can be heroes.

"He laughed at accidental sirens that broke the evening gloom. The police had warned of repercussions, They followed none too soon. A trickle of strangers were all that were left alive..." -Panic in Detroit

"Do you remember your President Nixon?Do you remember the bills you have to pay? Or even yesterday?" -Young Americans

Because of all we've seen, because of all we've said... We are the dead." -We Are The Dead

"And when the clothes are strewn, don't be afraid of the room. Touch the fullness of her breast, feel the love of her caress... She will be your living end." -Lady Grinning Soul

"He took it all too far... but boy could he play guitar." -Ziggy Stardust

Have you ever seen "Christiane F"? It's a German movie about a teenage junkie. Very stark, very moving. The soundtrack is essentially the Heroes album. I think you'd like it. As I recall it was shot in black and white.

hey mungen, good to hear from you... Saw "Christiane F." when it came out, haven't thought about it for awhile. I don't think it was black and white though, I think it just seemed that way. Junkie stories are like that.

I think I'll be coming back your way roundabouts early November, feel free to squirrel away cardboard/election signs accordingly.

I already have some pretty big pieces. I'll hit the furniture store before the rains come.

And yes, it's almost election season. I did pretty well last time hopefully I can score as many this Nov.

What if someone kicks your teeth in the curb at one of your frequent sign drop off points? Will you support their defense fund?

Freewayblogger said...

Of course not. What an utterly stupid question.

Good. You do have some reason. No one should support that type of aggression.... just making sure you had part of your head screwed on right.

Thanks. I get threats all the time, but nobody ever follows through on them, despite how easy it'd be. Pussies.

Oh, that wasn't a threat - I was just equating hanging a noose with hanging a sign. Seriously, no harm intended. I may disagree with you strongly, but I support your right to free speech and wouldn't do anything to stop it.

The only part of your statement that rings even remotely true is the part about not doing anything to stop it.

Ummmmm.... okay.... whatever you say. (?????)

Sorry if that seems unfair to you anonymous. Perhaps if you try introducing yourself with something other than a scenario of lying in wait to kick someone's teeth in you'll find people more amenable to your point of view in the ensuing dialogue.

Just a thought.

You know, if someone threatens to smash your teeth in you've really gotten under their skin. Of course anonymous-bully-guy doesn't really count, you want to motivate people who actually vote and stuff, not piss off the mouth breathers. Though that is a nice side benefit.

If someone was going to beat me up when I was putting up a sign I think they'd be in for a rude surprise. Unless they sucker punched me first. Even then they better make that first one a good shot.
