What if we end the war but, the jihadists don't? Think about it.

The Jihadists are our friends: Ronald Reagan even said so. They helped us rid afghanistan of the evil Soviet scourge... just in case you've forgotten. And the Iranians are people we used to not only bake cakes for (Thanks Ollie North!) but also sold Stinger anti-aircraft missiles to!

And let's not forget how Our Dear Patriotic Vice-Leader helped ol' Saddam himself rebuild his infrastructure in 1999! That's right: after he'd invaded Kuwait, gassed the Kurds and buried 100,000 Shiites in the sands of the south - Dick Cheney was there to do business with him. Even went around the UN embargo for the privledge.

So don't worry my friend, so long as there's money to be made at it, nobody's going to be ending any wars. We're just having a bit of fun before the whole shithouse goes up in flames. Even if we stopped fighting and the Jihadists stopped too, it wouldn't take more than a year or two to convince the American people that the Eskimos were about to kill us all and that the only way to protect against them was by dumping 700 Billion Dollars into highly specialized anti-Eskimo Defensive systems.

You'll see. I can almost hear Sean Hannity describing the Aleutian islands as a dagger pointed at the very heart of North America.

PT..."so long as there's money to be made at it, nobody's going to be ending any wars. We're just having a bit of fun before the whole shithouse goes up in flames"?

That left me with the impression you live in a mental state of despair replaying an agnostic version of the "end of days" over and over in your mind. But, I could be wrong. It is interesting that the history cited was only recent events(and about individuals with a particular political leaning). No mention of the Nobel Peace Laureate Anwar Sadat's amnesty for the Muslim Brotherhood. No words given to the ISI of Pakistan and it's virtual state within a state. How about the rise of Salafism? Can we really make an honest determination of "friendship" without knowing all we can? Either you edited history to reduce key strokes or, you're comparing Reagan, North, Cheney, et al, to...well...Eskimos.

Hi Sam! Actually, I live in a mental state called "Freedom". I paint signs that say what I want to say, then go where I want to go and put them up pretty much wherever I feel like it. The "despair" thing you might have detected was dissatisfaction with having half the nation's treasures sunk into wars with people that, quite honestly, Republican administrations seem to go out of their way to accomodate and coddle.

I referred to Oliver North baking cakes for the Ayatollah and Cheney doing business with Saddam in 1999 (amazing article that, eh? From "Newsmax" no less!)rather than Anwar Sadat and the Pakistani Secret Police because I'm more concerned about transgressions done in my name with my money by my country. So yes, in that sense I suppose you could call that "editing history". I prefer to think of it as standing up for my country.

Freewayblogger. Paint and post to your heart's content. I still have to ask...what if we end the war but, the jihadists don't? Will your "dissatisfaction" turn to joy? Just curious.

If the Jihadists take over America, which I guess is what you're so afraid of, the ones who do the surrendering won't be people like me.

Don't worry about Eskimos if we still heat the earth, icebergs will melt and they all will die ...

Freewayblogger - I'm not worried about them taking over. I'm asking you how do you get them to stop fighting us (ie: submit to sharia law, force women into burkas, kill all the infadels). You have thought this out. Right?

Freewayblogger said...

Uh... stop supporting them in the first place? Let's face it bucko, those madrassas and ol' osama himself are products of Reagan's foreign policy objective of getting the Russkies out of Afghanistan... Just like y'all financially supported Marcos, Suharto, the Duvaliers, Somozas, Suharto, Stroessner, Pinotchet, D'Aubuisson, Noriega and pretty much every other tinhorn dictator and megalomanic clown to come down the pike. And I'm goddam sick of it.

It's a damn good thing you all weren't in power during World War II.

Freewayblogger - "you all weren't in power"? I'm sensing some prejudice on your part. I was hoping for an open minded discussion. FYI, I've never been in power. I won't argue that past foreign policy has enabled brutal despots. As concerning as that may be I'm still curious about the aftermath if we end the war immediately. Have you thought that through?
