Why single out the Japanese?
Norwegians, Icelanders, Phillipines, Americans, Canadians, Marshall Islanders, Solomon Islanders, people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and so on all actively kill cetaceans for the ultimate purpose of obtaining food.
Why the focus on Japan?
And indeed, why the focus on Whaling? The largest threats to cetacean populations today is by far entanglement in fishing gear and habitat loss. Whaling is insignificant in conservation terms.
Probably a matter of scale, and whether or not St. Vincent has an Embassy worth blogging in New Zealand.
Best to send along a picture of your net entanglement protest work before calling someone else's focus on whaling too hard into question.
