Wake Up and Smell the Ecotyranny!

Someone (along with a whole lot of  other people) had been looking at this sign over the 101 in Petaluma for over a month before they decided to make some editorial changes...
Alas though, when they made their move they didn't bring a proofreader.  Still though, the point is well taken: Too long have governments and huge corporations suffered  under the bootheels of ecotyrants like Greenpeace, Al Gore and 350.org!
I replaced their sign with this one, which stayed up for another month or so...
before I moved it down to Santa Cruz
and replaced it with this one, which has remained standing and so far unedited for about two weeks.
These other signs were placed, with varying degrees of longevity, in Marin and Sonoma counties.

I'm often reminded by people that signhanging in places like Marin, Sonoma, San Francisco, Berkeley and the like is pretty much preaching to the converted, and in a purely political/demographic sense, they're right.
As far as I'm concerned though, I'm not preaching to the converted until I find myself driving down a freeway that's already covered with signs.
Cardboard, paint and an overhead projector - that, and a little bit of cleverness, is what it takes to reach a hundred thousand people, or more, in a single afternoon.

And you can say whatever you want.

Signs placed alongside I-80 & 580 in Berkeley, Oakland and Vallejo
"What makes mankind tragic is not that they are the victims of nature, it is that they are conscious of it." - Joseph Conrad
"If you want to understand opposition to climate action, follow the money." - Paul Krugman

"There is no excuse for letting another generation be as vastly ignorant, or as devoid of understanding and sympathy, as we are ourselves." - C.P. Snow

"There is no great invention, from fire to flying, which has not been hailed as an insult to some god." - J.B.S. Haldane

The above is one of many "Free Leonard" signs I've seen around Eastbay freeways and represents the work of the only other consistent freewayblogger I know of. Whoever you are, we should get together sometime and compare experiences and tactics. freewayblogger -at- yahoo.com

Urban Dictionary!

"A piece of human garbage, this simple minded creep slinks around the freeways of California putting up lame signs that show his ignorance and his arrogance..."

Along with three (count 'em three!) Urban Dictionary articles, my biggest fan has set up Freewayblogger MySpace, Facebook and Twitter accounts!
These, along with hours of YouTube comment countervoting and Blogger spamming make for one of the hardest working trolls on the internet.

"A coward in the strongest sense of the word, this feeble minded pantywaist attempts to drum up support for his laughable ideology through the use of unintelligent and silly hand made signs..."  Urban Dictionary

"A fat, blubbering idiot with no intelligence whatsoever. He paints silly little signs, puts them up on the freeway, then blogs about it on the interwebs. He holds himself in high regard, although most people who encounter him just see him as the overweight slob that he is." Urban Dictionary
