Nationwide Action: Sept. 1st - 3rd

In conjunction with ImpeachPAC and After Downing Street, freewaybloggers across the country will be celebrating their rights to free speech by putting up signs calling for the impeachment of George W. Bush. In order to participate all you need is cardboard, paint and something to say. Send pictures of your work to freewayblogger@yahoo.com
The right to post political opinion on public property is one of the most protected rights we have in American Democracy, and it's high time we started using it. Speaking out against a policy, president, or administration you feel is harming our nation is not only your right as an American citizen, it's your duty. And it's a hell of a lot of fun too.

Rock on! Can't wait to see if these things pop up all over the place. I got my town covered. One person in every town? We'll have the whole country impeaching the liar.

I've got lots of cardboard on hand, and will be putting signs in Santa Cruz County and/or Santa Clara County (aka Silicon Valley). I'm considering promoting ActBlue with the signs, since we've already elected about as many Democrats as we can from N. Cal. Time to start voting with our wallets to help candidates elsewhere in the country. Something along the lines of ...

"Had enough Bush? Vote with your wallet. ActBlue.com"

    ReplyDelete
  13. Anonymous12:55 AM

ActBlue sounds like a good thing to promote, but it would be kind of nice to have some kind of unified message this weekend (i.e. "Impeach") Nothing stopping you, of course, but then again, nothing stopping you from posting ActBlue signs next week and the week after that and the week after that...

My 2 cents, and worth every penny.

I left about 1,000 "9/11 Faudulent Notes" bills at resturaunts, gas stations, National Parks and hotels on our recent 2,500 mile trip from Denver to Portland, OR! The best is watching from a distance as unsuspecting republicans pick them up realizing what they are proceed to tear them up in a huff!

You might also want to consider adding either ITMFA or www.ITMFA.com -- check that site out and see what you think. However, I agree that a predominantly consistent campaign would be most effective, and might even garner a little media attention. Bravo! Now, fly my little monkies, FLY!

I'm afraid I'm too much of a wimp to post on public property, but how about private property? My back fence (which for two years has tallied the soldier's deaths) faces city hall, the police station and the catholic church. Can you use a support team of "community" bloggers?

In the redneck mountains of AZ they would need a tranlator to read the sign. But, we who are to old and infirm to do this cheer you one. There is hope for our country as long as there are still people with convictions and the energy and courage to display them we will survive. I am waiting by youtube for videos!

I heard of this months ago, so glad to find a website of it.
I haven't hung any freeway signs yet, but since 2004 I have been writing messages on the back and side windows of my car. I call them car-boards and mobile messages.
Naturally, I get all kinds of responses; the usual thumbs up, thumbs down or finger up, but the ones I like to see are those that want to read it, but don't want to be seen reading it. Funny how all the fingers come from 30 - 45 year old white males, once in a while an Ann Coulter. But the thumbs ups, smiles and compliments come from every age group, male and female and across all racial lines.
One guy at a warehouse where I was picking up a bedroom set kept scowling in my direction. I thought, "uh huh, one of them." Imagine my surprise when he came over just as I was ready to leave and said, "Lady, I couldn't agree with your sign more, but most everyone here supports bush, so I just keep quiet. People need to hear that (my sign) more and more. Keep up the good job".
I usually change them weekly or so. I've had **Support Our Troops - Impeach Bush Save Our Military - Fire Rumsfeld** up for a while now, but I will leave it on for this weekends movement. I'll even get off my ass and go hang a sign too.
    Rock on, true Patriots

BTW - (car-boarder here), I'm always looking for new slogans or sayings, if any of your creative juices are flowing.
    Some of my favorites:
Bush & the G.O.P. - consistently getting it wrong since Jan. of 2000.
    Who Would Jesus Bomb.
Our Constitution Trumps Your Bible - Period.

One cleverly double-sided sign went up this morning in Pacifica, CA on the Paloma/Francisco overpass. One side will hopefully entertain some of the weekenders heading up to Half Moon Bay. The other side is for the foot traffic on the pedestrian bridge. Happy Labor Day!

    Here are some sign ideas:

    "Bush hates white people too."

"At least Bush had an exit strategy for Vietnam."

    "I miss Clinton."

    "Impeach Cheney first."

Draw a cup of coffee with steam coming off of it and write around it: "Wake up and smell the fascism."

You claim that this behavior costs nothing to take down. It costs each community a lot of money. You have no right to put up political messages in public right-of-ways. If I were to put up the same type of sign over a bridge that said "Liberals Are Idiots", would you demand that it be taken down? I know I would. The point is, no matter what your message, or who puts it up, it is not legal. More than that, it costs each taxpayer a lot of money to keep removing these signs. Think about it. It is obvious that you really don't care about the cost to the taxpayer as long as your own agenda gets publicity. I think that's pretty selfish and truly Un-American.
